CHENNAI: ED filed a charge sheet against Tamil Nadu minister Senthil Balaji in the corruption case. The investigating agency has submitted a charge sheet of more than 3,000 pages to the Chennai court. The minister who was arrested in the corruption case is currently in ED custody. Senthil Balaji was taken into custody by ED on the 7th after the court verdict was approved. The minister will be questioned in the bribery case till Saturday.

Supreme Court had earlier dismissed the pleas filed by the minister and his wife against the Madras High Court ruling that the ED had the power to conduct custodial interrogation. After hearing the ED's custody application, the Chennai Principal Sessions Court allowed the minister to be interrogated till 12th. Although he was arrested on June 14, the ED was not been able to question the minister.

Tamil Nadu Electricity and Excise Minister Senthil Balaji was arrested by Excise last June 14. The action was in the case of corruption in Jayalalitha's cabinet before he joined DMK. The case is that Senthil Balaji, who was the Transport Minister at that time, illegally received money for the posting of driver, conductor, junior tradesman, junior assistant and junior engineer in the department. The ED's remand report also said that he along with other accused entered into a criminal conspiracy with the managing directors of state transport companies.
