MALAPPURAM: The NIA raided the houses of four people who had worked in the Popular Front. The raid started early Sunday morning. The raid of the national agency is being conducted at Malappuram Vengara, Tirur, Thanur and Rangatoor. The raid started at the same time in all the four places.

It is reported that the raid is being conducted in connection with financial transactions. Green valley, one of the main centres of the Popular Front, was seized by the NIA three weeks ago. The raids started at the activists' houses after this. It is indicated that the local police were informed only after the raid started. The raid still continues.


The NIA had raided the homes of people associated with the Popular Front in Nilambur and Kondotti in May last. The raid was conducted at the house of Sharif, a resident of Chanthakunnu in Nilambur. Some documents were seized from here. The NIA also conducted raids in Kasaragod Manjeswaram Kunchathur. The raid was at Muneer's house in Kunjathur.
