VAIKKOM: A man fell into the Muvattupuzha River while travelling by sitting on the steps of the train. The body was found in a search by the fire brigade. Meantime, the body could not be identified. The body was found at around 1 pm today. The preliminary conclusion is that the body is that of a 40-45-year-old man. The body has been shifted to the mortuary of Vaikom Government Hospital.


The incident happened on the flyover near Piravam Road railway station yesterday afternoon. The railway authorities informed that a man, aged between 40 and 45, fell on the river from the Parasuram Express proceeding to Thiruvananthapuram from Mangaluru.

The fire rescue team from Vaikom and Kaduthuruthy searched till 7.30 pm but could not find him. The body was found in the search that resumed this morning.


The search was conducted by a team consisting of Vaikom Fire Rescue Station Officer T Shaji Kumar, Kaduthuruthy station officer Kalesh Kumar, assistant station officer Jayan and scuba team members H Harish, Mujeeb and Jobin K John.
