KOTTAYAM: Wheel nut of the vehicle in which Chandy Oommen, the UDF candidate for the Puthuppally by-election was travelling in, was found loose. Congress came forward with the allegation of sabotage behind the incident. Chandy Oommen was returning after attending a public function with LDF candidate Jaick C Thomas at CMS College on Sunday evening when the car's wheel nut was found to be loose. Chandy Oommen did not come in the regular car that he used to travel in to participate in the program at CMS College.

The occupants of the vehicle got out and continued the journey after tightening the wheel nuts. Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan MLA demanded that the police should investigate the incident. Thiruvanchoor said that Chandy Oommen escaped from a big accident and the truth should come out.

The new incident comes at a time when campaigning for the Puthuppally by-election is in full swing. Polling in Puthuppally will be held on September 5. The result will be declared at 8.
