AMARAVATHI: A six-year-old girl, who was on a pilgrimage to Thirupathi was attacked by a tiger. The tiger was caught in a trap set by the Andhra Forest Department near mile seven on the Alipiri Walkway where the child was attacked. Initially, it was reported that the child was bitten by a tiger, but later it was suspected that the child was attacked by a bear. However, the forest department confirmed that it was indeed a tiger.
Simultaneously, pilgrims with children will only be allowed to pass through Tirupati between 5 am and 2 pm. This new proposal comes in response to the increasing incidents of wild animal attacks. Additionally, it has been decided that pilgrims arriving in Tirupati will be organized into groups of 100 and allowed to proceed. A forest guard will be assigned to each group of 100 people. Furthermore, it has been decided that individuals will not be permitted to climb the mountain alone.
