Recent headlines featured Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's family attending a screening of Rajini's film 'Jailer.’ Cinematographer, director and photographer Pratap Joseph has taken to Facebook with a post titled 'A Request to the Chief Minister,' referencing this news. In his post, Pratap Joseph earnestly asks that 'Nila,' the final among the four films released by the Film Development Corporation as part of the state government's women's empowerment initiative, continues its run-in theatres. He also appeals for the Chief Minister's presence with his family to watch this particular film. Actor Harish Peradi has also shared Pratap Joseph's post.

A request to the Chief Minister
While acknowledging the Chief Minister's cinematic preferences and his prerogative to make choices, it's notable that, as part of the state government's initiative towards women's empowerment, four films have been released under the banner of the Chief Minister and the respective departmental ministers, produced by the Film Development Corporation.
The most recent film, 'Nila,' is presently being screened in theatres across Kerala. It remains uncertain whether the Chief Minister or any of the departmental ministers have had the opportunity to view any of these films in a theatre (please correct me if I'm mistaken). Such an occurrence, if realized could serve as a significant source of inspiration for these movies.
Understanding that we can't compel a departmental minister who hasn't engaged with cinema for over two decades to do so now, I do believe that at the very least, the Chief Minister should consider watching the film 'Nila' alongside his family.
