NEW DELHI: Four of the 23 soldiers of CRPF who died in the maoist attack in Chhattisgarh have been awarded Kirti Chakra posthumously. Inspector Dilip Kumar Das, a native of Assam, Head Constable Raj Kumar Yadav, a native of Ayodhya, Constables Bablu Rabba, a native of Assam, and Shambhu Roy, a native of Tripura, has received the Keerthichakra. They lost their lives in an attack in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh in April 2021.

Shaurya Chakra has been awarded to 11 individuals. Five of them have been honoured posthumously. Two of them are receiving it for the second time.

Gallantry awards were given to 52 Army personnel including Malayalees Major Ranjit Kumar (Rashtriya Rifles) and Major Santosh Kumar (Gorkha Rifles), three Navy personnel and four Air Force personnel including Malayali Squadron Leader G L Vineeth.

30 people who took part in various military operations, including Malayali Lt. Col. Jimmy Thomas of the Army Aviation Squadron, who participated in Operation Rakshak, received the medal.

Madhu, a dog of the Army's 21st Dog Squad unit, who lost his life during a military operation, has been awarded a posthumous medal.
