NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the country is with the people of Manipur. Addressing the nation on the Independence Day, the Prime Minister said that peace will return in Manipur. He mentioned Manipur issue in his speech while addressing the nation after hoisting the national flag at the Red Fort.

Manipur witnessed a wave of violence in the last few weeks. Many people lost their lives, our mothers and sisters had to face humiliation. Peace is slowly returning. India is with the people of Manipur. The Prime Minister said that both the centre and the state are joining hands to bring back peace.


The Prime Minister addressed the country's 140 crore Indian citizens in his 10th consecutive Independence Day address by addressing them as Parivarjan (family members).

Modi remembered the Satyagraha struggle led by Mahatma Gandhi with gratitude. In his speech, the Prime Minister remembered the sacrifices of freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukh Dev. Modi clarified that the country's freedom is the result of their hard work.
