NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that corruption, nepotism, and appeasement are the main evils in the country. He also urged every Indian to fight against these evils. The Prime Minister was addressing the nation at the Red Fort on the 77th Independence Day.
Modi said that India would become a developed country by 2047. "I firmly believe that India will be a developed country when it will celebrate its 100th Independence Day in 2047. But the need of the hour is to fight three evils -- corruption, dynasty, and appeasement," Modi said.
The Prime Minister said that corruption affected the growth of the country and that the government was taking stern action against corruption. "'Parvivarvad (dynastic politics) and appeasement are destroying our country. How can a political party be ruled by only one family? It seems that their life mantra is 'party of the family, by the family and for the family'", Modi added.
Modi said that India's economy was the tenth largest when he became Prime Minister in 2014. He said that the country has now reached the fifth position.
