NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his Independence Day speech that he will come to power for the third time. He said that he would visit the Red Fort next year to present the development achievements of the country. The Prime Minister's announcement comes as elections are due next year. He also took the opportunity to lash out at dynasty politics.

"'Parvivarvad (dynastic politics) and appeasement are destroying our country. How can a political party be ruled by only one family? It seems that their life mantra is 'party of the family, by the family and for the family'. India's economy was the tenth largest when we came to power in 2014. The country has now reached the fifth position due to the efforts of 140 crore Indians. This didn't happen just like that. The demon of corruption had gripped the country. We created a strong economy by stopping the leakages," Modi added.
