In a British club record transfer, Ecuadorian Moises Caicedo joined EPL club Chelsea from Brighton. Earlier, news ran rampant after Liverpool agreed a £111m deal for the Ecuadorian midfielder but got toppled in the last minute. Caicedo opted for 'dream club' Chelsea as he has promised his mother about one day playing for the blues. Chelsea agreed to a £100m fee for Caicedo after the Ecuadorian snubbed Anfield for Stamford Bridge.

With the signing of Caicedo, Chelsea has eclipsed their previous record of 106 million pounds to bring Enzo Fernandez from Benfica. Caicedo still had four years left with Brighton but informed the club of his desire to switch sides. The sports world was keenly observant of the tug-of-war between Liverpool and Chelsea for the Ecuadorian prodigy who is rated as the next big thing in the football milieu. Last week, Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp admitted to agreeing terms with Brighton for Caicedo; never fully knowing the coup plans from Chelsea.
