BENGALURU: Chandrayaan 3's fourth lunar orbit descent has been successfully completed by ISRO. The orbit of the probe was finally lowered at 8.30 in the morning. The probe is currently in an orbit 100 km away from the moon. The lander and propulsion module will separate on Thursday, ISRO said.
Chandrayaan 3 was launched from Sriharikota on July 14 at 2.35 pm. After gradually raising its orbit above the Earth, the probe entered lunar orbit by August. It reached the moon's orbit on August 6.
On August 14, Chandrayaan 3 entered an orbit close to the Moon at 150 km around 11.50 am. The eagerly awaited soft landing will be on the 23rd of this month. Chandrayaan 3 will also set the course for India's future interplanetary missions.
