AMRITSAR: The police arrested the father who strangled his three-year-old son and dumped his body in a canal. Angrez Singh, a native of Taran, was arrested. Angres himself filed a police complaint after the child went missing.
Angrez told the police that he had gone to a Gurdwara in his town with his son the previous day and some people took his phone and wallet by force and beat him up. Following this, Taran police arrested one person.
But Station in charge Sukhbir Singh said that the statements of Angrez proved to be contradictory. During further questioning, the
accused admitted that he had killed his son and dumped his body in the canal. The police found the child's body in the canal. The police recovered the stolen phone and wallet.
Senior Superintendent of Police Gurmeet Singh Chauhan said that the body was sent to Amritsar for post-mortem. He added that the reason for the murder is not clear and an investigation is underway.
