THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Indian Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in the next five days in the state. Monsoon trough is currently located in the Himalayan valley. According to the notification of IMD, it will move towards the south and reach the normal position by August 18. Idukki to Kasaragod districts have been warned of light rain for the next five days.

However, IMD has informed that there is no disruption to fishing in the Kerala-Karnataka coast and Lakshadweep area. Meanwhile, strong winds with gustiness of 40 to 45 kmph and occasionally up to 55 kmph and bad weather are likely over the Central-East Bay of Bengal tomorrow. Fishing is not allowed in this area.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Centre, there is a possibility of high waves of 0.5 to 1.3 meters along the south Tamil Nadu coast till 11:30 tonight. Fishermen and coastal residents should stay alert.
