NEW DELHI: The India coalition formed under the leadership of opposition parties to challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been marred by conflict right from the outset. The initial conflict emerged between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party. Alka Lamba, a leader from the Delhi Congress, hinted at this division in the coalition. She stated that the Congress would independently contest all seven seats in Delhi during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. This response from the Delhi leader followed the preparatory discussion within the Congress regarding the Lok Sabha elections.

In response, the Congress conveyed that they had been advised to be prepared for the Lok Sabha elections and to make necessary arrangements for all seven seats within the remaining seven months leading up to the elections. In reaction to this, AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar expressed that if the various parties within India were not committed to standing together in Delhi, the idea of forming an alliance would lose its significance. Priyanka Kakkar emphasized that such a situation would merely be a futile exercise in coalition building. She added that the party's top leadership would make a decision about their participation in the next India Front meeting. Contrarily, Delhi Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj clarified that the party's high-powered committee would respond to the election matter. He stressed that decisions would be collectively taken by the party's political affairs committee and other alliance members.

Simultaneously, AICC spokesperson Deepak Babaria entered the discourse rejecting Alka Lamba's assertion. Deepak Babaria stated that there had been no discussion about contesting in all seven seats during the meeting held at the AIC. He also criticized Alka Lamba asserting that she lacked the authority to respond to such matters.

Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge posted on X (Twitter), emphasizing that the primary goal was to revitalize the party in Delhi. He highlighted the need for the participation of all leaders and workers in achieving this objective.
