KOCHI: High Court sought an explanation from Supplyco on the petition filed by K Nithin, junior assistant at Palayam Maveli Store in Kozhikode, who was suspended for writing 'not available' on the price list of subsidized items. Justice Devan Ramachandran is hearing the petition.

On August 4, Kerala Kaumudi had published the image of the price list, which stated that there were no subsidized goods available. High Court asked Supplyco to explain what items were in stock.

Supplyco explained that Nithin was suspended for writing that items were out of stock. Counsel for the petitioner argued that the subsidized goods were not in stock. The argument of the petitioner is that it was written so that those who come to buy the goods would not face any difficulty and the suspension was unfair even after explaining the matter. A show cause notice was issued on August 5. He replied on August 7 but was suspended the next day. The petitioner also alleged that he is being scapegoated for fear of political backlash.
