THODUPUZHA: A man was sentenced to four years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 for smuggling ganja. The verdict against Zafarulla Khan (32) was pronounced by Thodupuzha NDPS Court Judge KN Harikumar.

He is the second accused in the case where one kg of ganja was seized from Thodupuzha Muttam Rifle Club Road on June 5, 2017. A group including Zafarullah Khan, accused in many criminal cases, attacked the excise team with deadly weapons and tried to escape. The court had sentenced the first, third and fourth accused in the case on July 16, 2021. The court also accepted the deadly weapons used by the accused as evidence.
