THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The transport department will appoint an expert committee to unearth the recurring vehicle fire accidents happening in Kerala. There has been a steady rise in such accidents as more than 10 cases were reported in the past few months alone. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Minister Antony Raju.
The committee will study all such fire accident cases reported in the last two years. The meeting also blamed the unscientific modifications on vehicles as the mainspring for such fire accidents.
In another incident, at 12 pm today, a car caught fire on the Paravur Amman Kovil road. The passengers escaped unhurt while the car was charred completely. Meanwhile, last week, a young man died when his car exploded near the entrance of his home. The accident happened at midnight on August 6th. Seeing the car in fire, the locals rushed with help while the fire force was also alerted. By the time when the fire was extinguished, the driver Krishna Prakash had died.
