KOCHI: The police will not register a case against the students who insulted a visually impaired teacher at Maharaja's College. This was clarified by the Central Police which received the complaint of the college management in the incident. The police said that no legal action will be taken against the students after Priyesh, the teacher, gave a statement that he did not have any complaints against the students.
BA Political Science teacher Priyesh was insulted by the students inside the classroom. A video had surfaced showing the students, including KSU unit vice-president Fazil, insulting the teacher during class time. The video showed students looking at their phones and pulling their chairs while the teacher was in class. The video also showed the students mocking the teacher behind his back. Following this, the college management lodged a complaint with the police seeking a case to be registered against the students under the Protection of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act. The management took action as per the decision of the college council.
