LADAKH: A senior BJP leader was expelled from the party after his son eloped with a Buddhist girl. The incident happened in Ladakh. Nasir Ahmed (74), who was the Ladakh BJP vice-president, was expelled from the party. Party sources said that he has been removed from the post of vice president and primary membership of the party.

The party had given time to Nasir Ahmed to express his stand on the incident of his son eloping with a Buddhist girl. A meeting led by the state president and executive members had decided to seek an explanation to find out whether Nasir was involved in the actions of his son Mansoor Ahmed. BJP sources stated that the meeting was held as the incident greatly affected the communal harmony in Ladakh.

Mansoor Ahmed got married to the Buddhist girl a month ago. There were no details about the couple post the marriage. Nasir Ahmed informed the party leadership that he did not know where they were and that his son's wedding took place when he went to Saudi Arabia for Hajj. However, the party rejected this explanation and expelled him.
