THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Onam fairs will commence tomorrow with the aim of regulating public market prices during the festive season. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate this year's Onam Fairs, organized under the auspices of the State Government's Supplyco, at Putharikandam ground at 3:30 pm. District fairs will start from the 19th.
With the intention of actively engaging in the public market, besides offering subsidized goods, significant discounts will be provided on various daily essentials through the Onam fairs. Products from renowned companies such as Hindustan Lever, ITC, P&G, Dabur, Nestlé, and Wipro will be made available to consumers with special offers during the Onam fairs. There will be discounts ranging from 5 to 50 percent on various products, along with combo offers for various FMCG products in addition to the ongoing Supplyco discounts.
All daily use items, including 13 subsidized products, will be accessible at the fairs. Supplyco is set to introduce five new Sabari products on the occasion of Onam. The new products include Sabari Matta Rice, Andhra Jaya Rice, Sabari Atta, Puttupodi, and Appapodi. These items will be priced 4 to 5 rupees lower than the prevailing market prices. Milma and Horticorp Kudumbashree products have also taken steps to ensure their availability at more affordable prices during the fairs.
