ATTINGAL: A young man, who suffered injury during a brawl between drug mafias, died on Thursday. The deceased is Sreejith (25), son of Vakkom native Surendran and Girija. Police arrested four people in the incident. The attack took place in Oorupoika on Wednesday night. The arrested people are Vaisakh, Satheesh, Rahul, and Akhil Krishna.
It was Rahul and Akhil Krishna who brought Sreejith to Valiyakunnu taluk hospital around 11 pm on Wednesday. Later, Rahul escaped with the bike. Feeling suspicious about the incident, the hospital staff detained Akhil Krishna and handed him over to the police. Meanwhile, Vaishakh and Satish, who came to the hospital in search of them, were taken into custody by the police. The police managed to nab Rahul within hours.
The police found that a group led by Kuryan Vineeth aka Gunda Kuryan, was behind the murder. Apart from Vineeth, Pranav, Sreejith, and Vijith are also found to be involved in the murder. The police are trying to arrest these four people. The police said that the circumstances that led to the beating and murder will be clear only after taking these accused into custody.
The police clarified that the statements of those in custody are contradictory. A special investigation team led by CI Chandradas is investigating the case. Sreejith's body was shifted to the medical college for post-mortem.
