THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Crime Branch filed a report in court, stating that the former Speaker N Shakthan was not cooperating with the ongoing investigation of the Assembly handcuffing case. According to the order of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Shibu Daniel, a report has to be submitted once every three weeks. The report was submitted by DYSP K Sajeev.

The ex-speaker is unwilling to provide a statement or collaborate with the investigation, despite multiple direct requests. Notices have been issued to 27 MLAs who were present in the House on that day. The investigation team has received permission to enter the assembly hall as part of the inquiry. Medical records of K Ajith and K S Salikha were collected. Statements from the doctors who issued the certificates and the assembly clinic doctors were obtained. The report also mentions that a notice was sent to record the statement of former member T V Rajesh.

As per the report, the DGP allowed further investigation based on the complaint filed by K Ajith, E S Bijimol and Geeta Gopi. Accused in the case include Minister V Sivankutty and leftist leaders E P Jayarajan, K T Jalil, K Ajith, K Kunjahammed and C K Sadashivan. The police case alleges that they obstructed the presentation of the Budget on March 13, 2015 when the then Finance Minister K M Maani was attacked resulting in a loss of 2.20 lakh rupees.
