NEW DELHI: Dausa Police in Rajasthan have arrested a woman for duping grooms and stealing their gold and other belongings. The police said that the woman had duped three youngsters within three months.

The woman, a nursing student, carried out marriage scams in Bhilwara, Dausa, and Panipat. The Dausa police nabbed her from Yamuna Nagar in Haryana on Wednesday.

According to the police, the woman, who operated under the alias Nisha, married a Dausa native youth on June 14. She got acquainted with the youth through a marriage bureau. The woman, however, left home a week after marriage saying that she was going to visit her family. She did not return to Dausa after that. In the meantime, she used to call the youth and demand money citing various reasons. Upon getting suspicious, the youth approached the police. The scam came to light in the subsequent investigation. The police found that Nisha had similarly duped another youth in Bhilwara in May.

Meanwhile, Nisha reached Panipat in Haryana and duped a youth there, and stole his money. Dausa police reached Haryana and nabbed Nisha as she was preparing for yet another scam.

The woman was also known by the name 'Sonia'. Police have also arrested her associates Sangeetha and Anitha. At present, the police are questioning Nisha and her associates.
