MANIPUR: A heavy gunfire broke out in Manipur on Friday morning. Three belonging to the Kuki community were killed in the attack. The officials informed that the killing happened in Ukhrul district this morning in the firing by the assailants.
The incident happened around 4 in the morning on Friday in Thowai village, where the Kuki people live, 47 km from Ukhrul town under the Naga tribe. Ukhrul Superintendent of Police N Vashu said the gunmen attacked the hills east of Tawai village and killed three villagers.
The police informed that the security measures have been strengthened following the incident. Three Meiteis and two Kukis were killed in the firing in Bishnapur and Churachandpur on August 5.
