KOTTAYAM: Vigilance arrested LP school headmaster while taking a bribe from a teacher at school. Sam John T Thomas, the headmaster of Chalukunnu CNILP School, Kottayam, was arrested. He demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the teacher in the name of giving it to the sub-district education officer.

A teacher from another school, a native of Kottayam, is the one who lodged a complaint with the Vigilance. An application was submitted to the Kottayam West Sub District Education Officer to regularize the service tenure of this teacher according to a government order. Sam John T Thomas promised that he would fix the matter quickly by bribing the AEO, and accepted the money. Later, a complaint was lodged with Kottayam Vigilance Eastern Region SP VG Vinodkumar.

A vigilance team headed by Vigilance Unit DySP Ravi Kumar reached the school later. The vigilance team caught the headmaster red-handed when he took a bribe from the teacher at 11 in the morning. Vigilance informed that they will check whether the Sub-District Education Officer is involved in this in the coming days. The headmaster will be produced in the vigilance court.
