TANUR: The police have now come up with serious allegations against the forensic surgeon who performed the autopsy of Tamir Jifri, who died while in police custody. The police criticized the hasty forensic conclusion that Jifri’s death was a result of brutal torture while in custody. The police have requested the government to allow another autopsy on Jifri as the previous forensic team reached a conclusion not even waiting for the examination results of internal organs.
The chemical test report of the drug recovered from Tamir's stomach is yet to be received. The result should be obtained from Kozhikode Regional Chemical Laboratory. The post-mortem report stated that two plastic packets were found in his stomach. In order to understand how much intoxicating drugs are mixed in the body, chemical test results must be obtained.
Meanwhile, the suspended SI revealed yesterday that it was the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) who physically assaulted Tamir Jifri. According to government norms, any case of custody death should be handed to CBI for detailed investigation. But if reports are to be believed, CBI won’t make a hurry to take up the case as ambiguity still looms over Jifri's autopsy report.
