LADAKH: 9 soldiers were killed after an army vehicle fell into a gorge in Ladakh. One person sustained injuries. The army vehicle was going to Leh when it met with the accident. 10 soldiers were in the vehicle. It is reported that one junior commissioned officer and eight jawans died in the accident.
The accident took place in Kiari, which is 150 km away from Leh. Although the accident took place between 4 and 5 pm, the army confirmed this only a little while ago. Rescue operations are ongoing at the site.
Expressing his condolences, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh wrote on X: "Saddened by the loss of Indian Army personnel due to an accident near Leh in Ladakh. We will never forget their exemplary service to our nation. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. The injured personnel have been rushed to the Field Hospital. Praying for their speedy recovery."
