THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Giving hope to the aspirants, the government has started the procedure to issue the second notification for recruitment in Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) soon. The current decision is to reserve 30 percent (31) of the current 105 cadre posts in KAS as a deputation reserve. About fifty vacancies were found after adding 18 posts from technical departments like Public Works, Electrical Inspectorate, Economics and Statistics, and Planning Board along with this.

The government is moving things to a point where the notification will be issued on November 1 and the appointments will be completed in the new year. Although the first notification came in 2019, the rank list was released only in 2021 after conducting the exam and interview. PSC had requested the government to notify the new posts when the first list expired in October 2022. The process was delayed as vacancies could not be found even though the notification was to be published once in two years. 104 people from the first list had entered the service in July. 105 posts in 29 departments were included that day. Then the government appointed a committee chaired by the Chief Secretary to find the vacancies. This committee identified about 300 deputation posts in various departments as state deputation reserves on the pattern of IAS at the Centre. Additional selections will be made from these in coming years and appointments will be made at regular intervals.
