KOZHIKODE: A TTE was attacked by a ticketless passenger on the Westcoast Express in Vatakara, Kozhikode. Injured TTE Rishi Sashindranath is admitted in hospital. The accused Bijukumar has been taken into custody by the railway police.
The incident happened around 3 am today. The attack took place after the train passed Vatakara station. Bijukumar rushed towards Rishi with a knife but the passengers grabbed Bijukumar. However, Rishi's neck was injured while the accused swung the knife. He has now been admitted to the railway hospital in Shornur.
Bijukumar, who was intoxicated, was dropped from another train going to Kannur. Then he boarded the S10 coach of the Westcoast Express. TTE asked him to get off as he didn't have a ticket. Then the RPF was informed. Then when he reached the next station, the RPF came and arrested him. Then he got into the coach with the permission of the RPF saying that his bag was inside the train.
The train left but he did not come out. Rishi Sashindranath then informed the RPF officials of Vatakara, the next station. He was enraged and attacked Rishi.
TTE and others are demanding strict action in the incident. A similar incident happened yesterday. A middle-aged passenger slapped a female TTE near Vatakara station. Its footage was also widely circulated.
