THRIPPUNITHURA: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan emphasized that the profound message of love and peace from Thrippunithura remains pertinent in these times of caste animosity and a tumultuous atmosphere. He aimed to propagate the radiant beacon of religious harmony that shines in all directions. He inaugurated the Athachamaya procession at Thrippunithura Atthamnagar (Government Boys High School).
Similar to the Thrissur Pooram, the Athachamaya procession is a festival that Malayalis across the world observe with great enthusiasm. Athachamayam was a communal celebration, embodying a remarkable example of secularism, championed by Nettur Thangal, Chempil Arayan, Karingachira Kathanar and members of the royal family alike. This festival has the potential to put Thripunithura on the global tourism map. The Chief Minister highlighted that Athchachamayam serves as an inspiration for striving to recreate a period of prosperity when all individuals were considered equal.
K Babu MLA presided over the event. The Industries Department Minister, P Rajiv hoisted the Athapathaka. The procession was officially commenced by actor Mammootty. Rama Santhosh, Chairperson of the Municipal Corporation, MPs Haibi Eden, Thomas Chazhikadan, MLA Anoop Jacob, District Collector N S K Umesh, CPM District Secretary C N Mohanan, Municipal Secretary P K Subhash, Atham convener K V Saju and municipal councillors graced the occasion with their presence.
