TEHRAN: The head of a real estate agency was arrested for allegedly transferring ownership of an apartment to a dog. A video depicting this unusual transaction carried out by the real estate firm quickly went viral on social media sparking a series of actions. An Iranian couple decided to name their apartment after their beloved dog, 'Chester'. The video also shows the couple inking the dog's paw and using it to create a stamp.
The woman stated that the couple intended to transfer ownership of their apartment to their dog. There is no specific law in Iran that prohibits dog ownership, although some religious figures had previously suggested that dogs should only be kept as pets. Following the widespread circulation of the video where ownership of the house was seemingly bestowed upon the dog, the police initiated an investigation. Subsequently, the real estate agent was apprehended on a Saturday, and the company was temporarily shut down. No further information was released regarding the arrested executive.
