MALAPPURAM: The father of the main accused Vishnu was also arrested in the incident where the body was found in a decomposed state in the premises of the house in Thuvvur. Kunjunni was arrested along with Vishnu and three others. The body was found at around 9 pm last night at the residence of Youth Congress worker Vishnu living near the railway track near Malappuram Thuvvur panchayat office. Vishnu's brothers Vaishakh, Jithu and his friend Shihan were arrested in the case earlier.
The body of Sujitha (35), a former employee of Thuvvur Krishi Bhavan and wife of Manoj of Palliparambu Mankooth, was found in a decomposed state. She went missing on August 11. As Sujitha's phone location was last seen near Vishnu's house, the investigation extended to them. As part of the subsequent investigation, Vishnu was taken into custody and questioned. He later told police that her body was buried there.
Vishnu told police that Sujitha was suffocated to death at around 11 am. She was hanged after her death was confirmed. Later buried the body with the help of his brothers and friend.
Sujitha left Krishi Bhavan saying that she was going to the primary health centre. Her phone was switched off that evening. The very next day, Vishnu went to sell some gold at a jewellery shop in Thuvvur itself. The police believe that it was Sujitha’s jewellery. The murder is believed to have committed to steal her gold. Vishnu and Sujitha were acquaintances. The Krishi Bhavan where Sujitha worked was near to the panchayat office where Vishnu worked. Sujitha was a Kudumbashree activist.
Vishnu was a temporary employee of Thuvvur panchayat. Vishnu had resigned from his job even before Sujitha went missing. He told his friends and the local residents that he got a job in ISRO.
