NEW DELHI: Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal sat on a dharna at the hospital after she was stopped from meeting the minor who was sexually assaulted by a senior Delhi government official. The minor has been sexually assaulted for several months resulting in her pregnancy.

Lashing out at the Delhi Police, Swati Maliwal alleged that the police were attempting to hide something. She also said that the police had earlier given permission to the National Child Rights Commission chairperson to meet the child.

Swati, who has been protesting at the hospital, added that she will not leave the hospital without meeting the girl. She said that she wanted to know whether the girl was getting adequate treatment and assistance.

The police said that Pramod Khakha, the deputy director of the Women and Child Development Department, sexually assaulted the girl several times between November 2020 and January 2021. The police arrested Khakha and his wife after questioning them on Monday.
