NEW DELHI: Lakshadweep MP Mohammed Faizal has received a setback in the attempt to murder case. The Supreme Court on Tuesday set aside the High Court order suspending the conviction of Mohammed Faizal in the attempt to murder case and asked the High Court to hear it afresh and reconsider it in six weeks.

The bench comprising Justices BV Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuyal allowed Mohammed Faizal to continue as MP till the verdict. The Kavaratti District Sessions Court had earlier found Faizal guilty in the attempt to murder case and sentenced him to ten years in prison.

However, the Kerala High Court stayed this verdict by pointing out that Faizal was an MP. Following this, the opposite party approached the Supreme Court against the High Court order.
