NEW DELHI: Union Minister V Muralidharan has called upon the CPM to provide an explanation about the recent ED raids on the houses of their leaders. The opposition, despite not raising the Karuvannur issue in the assembly seems to be entangled in the same scandal. Muralidharan also sarcastically accused the Pinarayi Aikya Munnani of effectively ruling Kerala. He stated that if the Chief Minister and his family are involved in fraudulent activities the party should be prepared to address these allegations.
He pointed out that although Veena Vijayan's company pays substantial amounts of money the 'tally' service is provided in Aluva for a meagre sum. Speaking from Delhi, Muralidharan emphasized that individuals shouldn't assume they can evade accountability through silence.
Muralidharan firmly rejected Finance Minister K N Balagopal's statement that the central government was lifting economic sanctions imposed on Kerala. He demanded that the government present accurate information and clarify whether any discriminatory actions were taken against Kerala. He criticized Balagopal's language likening it to that used by separatists. Muralidharan attributed Kerala's economic crisis to the state government's inability to effectively manage the situation.
He also questioned why the Chief Minister did not attend the NITI Aayog meeting regarding borrowing limits. Muralidharan expressed that if ministers are only available during Delhi-based party meetings numerous issues will remain unresolved.
