MALAPPURAM: A major fire broke out in a well at Angadipuram Pariapuram Chirattamala part. The fire spread when water was pumped using a motor. The well of Pariapuram Convent, which has about 30 inmates and sisters, was burnt for hours. The incident happened at 8 am yesterday morning.

A tanker lorry loaded with diesel fell 20 feet deep near the convent at 4 am on Sunday. 19,400 litres leaked from the tank which had 20,000 litres of diesel. It got mixed with the soil and caught fire. A large amount of diesel also reached the well of Joseph's house, which is 200 meters from where the accident took place. It is reported that there is diesel about three meters above the water. Diesel was collected from this well using a motor. Even when it was poured on the ground and burned, it burned for a long time.
