LUCKNOW: In one pure show of one-upmanship, the city mayor in Lucknow tried demolishing a hospital after she was denied permission inside the ICU for wearing shoes. The incident took place at Vinayak Medicare, a private hospital in Thana Bijnor, Lucknow. The city mayor Sushma Kharakwal was asked by the hospital authorities to take off her shoes before entering the ICU, which irked her to go ahead with the threat of demolition.
After the mayor was denied permission, a heated exchange took place between Sushma and the hospital authorities. After this, posters were put up outside the hospital premises and a JCB was brought in to instill fear of demolition. However, a truce was reached after Police arrived at the location and pacified the issue.
The mayor came to see Suran Kumar, a retired soldier from the municipal corporation's army brigade, at the hospital. Meanwhile, things started to go wrong after the hospital staff stopped the mayor and her acolytes who tried to sneak into the ICU wearing shoes.
However, hospital director Mudrika Singh clarified that the reports of a dispute between the staff and the city mayor as false.
