CHENNAI: A woman died after delivering a baby at home watching YouTube. The dead M Lokanayaki (27), wife of Madesh (30) of Puliampatty near Pochampalli in Krishnagiri, died of severe blood loss. The police have taken Madesh into custody. Their child is under treatment in the hospital.

Lokanayaki delivered at home on Tuesday early morning. When she developed labour pain, her husband took the initiative and attempted home birth. However, soon after her delivery, her condition turned worse. Madesh then took his wife and the newborn to the nearby primary health centre. On reaching hospital, the doctors declared her dead. The medical officer immediately informed the police.

On investigation, it was found that Madesh used to watch YouTube channels on home births. Following that, he was taken into police custody. Police said a case of unnatural death has been registered and if the charges are confirmed, the arrest of the accused will be registered. The baby is undergoing treatment at Pochampally Government Hospital.
