BENGALURU: ISRO has released the first image captured by the Chandrayaan 3 lander after landing at the South Pole of the Moon. ISRO shared the image on X, formerly known by the name Twitter. The image was captured by the Landing Imager camera on the lander. The picture shows a portion of Chandrayaan 3's landing site. A shadow of one of the spacecraft's legs can also be seen in the image.

ISRO stated that Chandrayaan-3 chose a relatively flat region on the lunar surface for landing. Earlier, ISRO had released the pictures taken by Chandrayaan 3 before landing on the moon. These images were sent to Earth after communication was established between the Chandrayaan 3 probe and the Mission Operations Complex in Bangalore.
