THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that some people are trying to build a religious state by ignoring social realities. The Chief Minister said this after releasing the Higher Secondary Additional Textbooks prepared by including the sections omitted by NCERT.

"The removal of the lessons from the textbook is an attempt to whitewash the individuals and organizations involved in the assassination of Gandhi for political interest. By erasing the history of the Mughal kings, they are trying to say that only a certain group has the right to the country. When some sections were omitted from the NCERT textbooks, the SERT expert committee examined the matter and took further steps as per the instructions of the state. Based on this, textbooks were printed for Higher Secondary Plus One class by including the omitted sections on History, Politics, Economics, and Sociology. The sections that were omitted from the NCERT books include Gandhi's assassination, Mughal history, and Five Year Plans," CM said.
