THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the monsoon continues to be weak, the temperature will be high in the state for a week, according to the Meteorological Department. Today and tomorrow, the temperature in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts will rise by two to five degrees Celsius and reach 36 degrees Celsius. The temperatures will go up to 35 degrees in Alappuzha, Kottayam and Palakkad districts. Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts will see temperatures up to 34 degrees. Temperatures may rise in the following days due to dry conditions.

The State Disaster Management Authority said that people should be cautious as there is a possibility of sunstroke during the day. A special alert has been issued.

The monsoon is weakened as the monsoon trough moves towards the Himalayan valley. The strengthening of the El Nino phenomenon in the Pacific Ocean has also led to a decrease in rainfall and a rise in temperature.

Avoid continuous exposure to direct sunlight from 11 am to 3 pm

Alcohol, coffee, tea, carbonated soft drinks etc. which cause dehydration should be avoided during the day.
