NEW DELHI: Petition in the Supreme Court seeking annulment of Kerala State Film Awards. The petition was filed by director Lijeesh Mullezhath. The demand in the petition is that the awards should be quashed as there is bias in the determination of the award.

The petition also demands that the state government should conduct an inquiry into the allegations against the awards. High Court had earlier rejected this petition. In the appeal filed in the Supreme Court, it is said that the High Court did not take into account the issues raised by the petitioner and the decision was wrong.

It has been alleged in the petition that the jury members themselves have made disclosures regarding the interference in the decision of the award. Advocates P Surashan, KN Prabhu and Rebin Gralan filed the petition for Lijeesh Mullezhath. The petition also alleged nepotism and irregular interference on the part of the chairman of the academy in deciding the award.
