BAKU: Magnus Carlsen has won the final of the Chess World Cup. Carlsen won his maiden world title by defeating Indian wonder Praggnanandhaa in a tiebreaker, having drawn him in the first two games. The five-time world champion Carlsen was about to surrender to the 18-year-old Praggnanandhaa, before making his comeback.

After the first two games ended in a draw, the final result of the match was announced through a tiebreaker. Carlsen's dominance was clear in the first round of the tiebreaker. With Praggnanandhaa conceding a draw in the second game, Carlsen secured the title.

Praggnanandhaa, India's teenage prodigy in the Chess World Cup finals, has been lauded even in defeat. Five-time world champion Magnus Carlsen was levelled by Praggnanandhaa in two classical games to reach the final tiebreaker.
