NEW DELHI: In the final round, it was between Indrans (Home) and Pankaj Tripathi (Mimi-Hindi) to find the best supporting actor at the National Film Awards, said jury member G Suresh Kumar. Finally, Pankaj Tripathi won Best Supporting Actor over Indrans. Special mention was also given to Indrans. Joju (Naayattu, Maduram) from Malayalam also came last in the supporting actor competition.
Allu Arjun, who played the character role in Pushpa, and Vicky Kaushal, who graced the lead role in the Hindi film Sardaar Uddham Singh, were in competition to find the best actor. The jury unanimously decided to select Allu. Alia Bhatt (Gangubhai Kathiawadi) and Kriti Sanon (Mimi) had a good fight for Best Actress.
Films made during the Covid-19 crisis were considered for the 2021 awards. So, only eight films from Malayalam came before the jury, G Suresh Kumar said.
The awards were decided by an 11-member jury chaired by Ketan Mehta.
