load-shedding-

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: During a meeting convened by the Chief Minister, it was decided that the immediate introduction of load shedding in the state would be postponed. Another high-level meeting is scheduled to take place on the 4th of the upcoming month. It was also agreed upon in the meeting that there would be no electricity rationing until that time. The Chief Minister further conveyed that the TOTEX scheme for smart meters is unnecessary. Instead, the meeting proposed that KSEB should explore and independently implement alternative projects.

Today, a high-level meeting was conducted chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan aimed at addressing the power crisis. While the deficit in central allocation due to technical glitches in central power plants has been resolved, the financial strain persists due to the procurement of costly power from the exchange. To prevent load shedding in the upcoming months, it is contingent upon the availability of sufficient power at a reasonable price. This will be determined when the tender for purchasing 500 MW from external sources opens on September 4th.
