ATHENS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded the highest civilian honour, the Grand Cross of the Order of Honour by Greece which is the second highest civilian award in Greece. Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou presented the honour to Modi.
In a statement, Greece expressed that Narendra Modi has elevated his country's status on the global stage and has diligently worked towards India's economic progress and prosperity. He has also initiated significant changes and has made issues such as environmental protection and climate change international priorities, as stated by Greece.
Narendra Modi mentioned that this honour is a tribute to India from the people of Greece. Narendra Modi's visit to Greece followed the BRICS summit. The Prime Minister received a warm welcome in Athens and also engaged with the Indian community. It's noteworthy that an Indian Prime Minister is visiting Greece after a span of 40 years. Upon concluding his one-day tour, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet the ISRO team responsible for the Chandrayaan mission in person in Bengaluru.
