THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretariat has decided to legally fight the ED action against state committee member AC Moideen in connection with the Karuvannur bank fraud. The move comes as the ED has summoned Moideen for questioning. Legal means of preventing arrest will also be examined.
The party is of the position that the issue is political hunting. The party stand is that ED is moving on the basis of the accused's statement and that the ulterior motive is clear from this itself. The campaign that this is a move aimed at the Puthuppally by-election will also be strengthened.

State Secretary MV Govindan stated in a press conference that there is no complaint against Moideen anywhere in the fraud case. Moideen is a very respectable politician. Raid has been launched to keep such a person under suspicion. His two bank accounts are said to have been frozen but it is not clear what was seized from Moideen. Disinformation is being unleashed.

Congress is of the opinion that while the Center is trying to silence the opposition by using the ED all over India, it is okay to do the same in Kerala. KPCC president K Sudhakaran being interrogated by the investigating agency for nine hours is not news to the media. In the wake of Puthuppally, the media and central agencies are standing against LDF. This is a repetition of what was seen during the last assembly elections. False propaganda is being spread without understanding about cooperative banks. Moideen is said to have given instructions for benami loans. Loans are given as per the decision of the board of directors of the bank.

Propaganda hiding the truth

Govindan said the problem with the Karuvannur scam is different. ''It is a serious matter. The party will not encourage wrong practices. This is a closed case. The opposition leader is doing false propaganda by hiding the truth. The strange claim of the opposition leader is that the Youth Congress member who killed the Kudumbashree worker in Thuvvur, Malappuram is an old DYFI activist. He is a Youth Congress person who came through KSU.''
