THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A police team from Kerala has taken two people into custody in Haryana in connection with the VSSC exam cheating case. Those who helped in cheating in the exam are the ones in custody. Their names have not been released. The arrested accused will be brought to Thiruvananthapuram soon. More people are under surveillance. The examination fraud was controlled by a team consisting of experts in various subjects at a secret centre in Haryana. The police team that reached Haryana has collected information from those running the examination centres.
Meanwhile, the main accused in the case, Amit, a native of Haryana, has been remanded in police custody till the 28th. He was arrested from the examination centre of St. Joseph High School, Thiruvananthapuram. He was disguised as Rishipal and 4 others have been arrested along with him. The court accepted Senior Assistant Public Prosecutor Kallampally Manu's demand that the accused be taken to the examination hall, shown to the invigilator and taken into custody for 4 days to collect the handwriting and undergo scientific examination. Police said that more information about the fraud will be available after he is interrogated in custody.
Meanwhile, a team led by ASP Deepak Chahar and Medical College CI Harilal is continuing the investigation in Haryana. The team inspected the examination training centre in Gurgaon. This is where the fraud was planned. The police concluded that the impersonators were selected, trained and handed over the electronic devices there. Up to 2 lakh rupees were collected from the applicants for the fraud. Police say that at least 5 more people, including the original applicants, will be accused.
