KOCHI: “ The 17.3 acres of land near the housing board in Mangalavanam should be released for the development of the high court, and I am sure that the CM will take this case into consideration”, While Justice Alexander Thomas gave this talk, his tone resounded assurance. Justice Thomas addressed the issue while responding to the full court reference given to him as part of homage for his retirement from the High Court.
As per the recent verdict of the Supreme Court, the environmental problem that stood in the way was thwarted and the land was back again in consideration for the development of the high court. However, news came about the government planning an exhibition center in the same land. “Judicial needs are greater than commercial needs” quoted Justice Alexander Thomas.
Justice Alexander Thomas also disclosed that he had given a letter to the Chief Minister clarifying this during his tenure as the Acting Chief Justice.
Former Chief Justice SVN Bhatti in his speech said that Justice Alexander Thomas was a force who fought anything without having a shade of fear in him. Bhatti even equaled the traits of justice to be on par with Alexander the Great.
Justice Alexander Thomas was promoted to the Supreme Court recently.
